Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence

Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence

Nominations for the 2024 Chancellor’s Award

Nominations for the 2024 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence are now closed.

The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence recognizes students who have best demonstrated, and have been recognized for, the integration of Academic Excellence, Leadership, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Justice, Campus Involvement OR Community Service, Research & Development, and Arts.

Recommendation letters should reflect why the nominee is one of the top outstanding students in at least three of the award categories listed above providing examples of the sustained accopmlishments, description of awards received, organizational involvement and service dates. Please use different examples, honors, accomplishments, or achievements for each category.

A campus selection committee reviews all eligible student nominations, and selects nominees to forward to the SUNY Chancellor's Office for a second round of review. Nominated students with measurable, long-term accomplishments and achievements that affect the greater campus community and/or a large number of students and/or community members will be valued higher than other achievements. Finalists are then recommended to the Chancellor to become recipients of the award.

Each recipient receives a framed certificate and medallion, at the SUNY Chancellor's Award ceremony in April in Albany, NY. The campus acknowledges this prestigous award during the annual Student Life Leadership Award on campus, also in April. The medallion received is traditionally worn at commencement.
