What Should My Student Be Doing?

You support your student in many ways and your ultimate goal is to see them succeed! This page will introduce you to Career Services at SUNY Delhi and help you understand what career-related activities your student should be working on and offer some ways for you to help with the career planning process.

How Can I Help?

Encourage your student to visit Career Services. We are located in Bush Hall right next to the Library Café and the Resnick Academic Achievement Center. It is NEVER too early to explore career options, start working on a resume and establish contact with staff who are here to help.

Make sure your student is utilizing Optimal Resume to create professional quality resumes and cover letters.

Be sure your student is registered with College Central Network connecting them to local, national and international job and internship opportunities.

Encourage your student to become involved at SUNY Delhi through volunteering, student organizations and more. This broadens their horizons, builds valuable skills, contributes to a well-rounded resume and enhances their overall college experience.

Do you or your employer hire students for internships or full-time positions? Do you serve with a volunteer agency or serve on a board for an organization that hires? Please let us know of opportunities that could be shared with our students. Contact us at career@delhi.edu.

Last, but not least, be patient and supportive. Your student is facing a period in their life with lots of decisions and changes. Take an active role in connecting them to the available resources at SUNY Delhi. Be sure to check out the resources on the Student page!
