Consider Your Career Plan

Freshman Year

  • Introduce yourself to the Career Services staff.
  • Write your resume - this may seem early, but there is no better time to start. Resumes can, and should, be updated regularly. Create an account in our online resume and cover letter building program, Optimal Resume.
  • Research internship opportunities.
  • Join on-campus clubs and organizations that will help you explore your career interests and develop new skills.
  • Talk to family, friends and advisors about career interests and begin exploring them via online tools.

Senior Year

  • Learn to interview early in your senior year. Set up a practice interview with Career Services Office.
  • Generate a prospective list of potential places to work or attend school. Seek out people in these organizations that you can network with.
  • Do your homework! Learn everything you can about the field and the employers you are interested in.
  • Fine tune your resume, cover letter, portfolio and reference lists.
