Spring 2019 Commencement, Saturday, May 18, 10 a.m.

Weather permitting, the May 2019 Commencement Ceremony will be held on the field at our outdoor track. If the ceremony has to be moved indoors due to inclement weather, we will post a notification on this page and on social media by Wednesday, May 15, 2019. See rain contingency plan below as the number of tickets and seating is restricted.

Ceremony Logistics

  • Line up at 9 a.m. in the parking lot next to Wall Service Complex.  Arrive dressed in your gown, cap, and hood. Please remain in this area until ushers prompt you that the ceremony is starting.
  • Bring your name card with your name spelled phonetically. You need to pick up a name card at the bookstore prior to commencement. (On-campus students can pick one up with your cap & gown. Off-campus students will need to stop in the bookstore to pick up a name card before graduation.)
  • Ushers will guide you to your seats as part of the processional at the start of the ceremony, promptly at 10 a.m.
  • When you arrive at your seat, please fill in the row and make sure there are no empty seats next to you to ensure enough space for all graduates.
  • Tickets are not required for the outdoor ceremony.
  • You will be issued THREE tickets for an indoor ceremony in the Clark Field House in case of inclement weather.  Commencement tickets are picked up at the Barnes & Noble campus store. Should the ceremony be moved indoors, seating for guests in Clark will be on a first-come, first served-basis.

Parking

  • When you arrive on campus please follow the directions from parking attendants. There will be no parking in the Track field or Clark Field House parking lots. Parking attendants will direct you to the closest available parking lot.
  • Parking will be very limited.  Please plan to arrive well in advance of the ceremony to secure a parking spot. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.
  • Additional parking will be available at our valley campus with a shuttle bus to transport guests to the ceremony. The valley campus is located at 1104 Arbor Hill Road in Delhi, about 2 miles from the main campus. Parking is also available in the village of Delhi in any legal space on village streets. (No shuttles will be provided for parking in the village, guests should be prepared to walk to the ceremony location.)
  • A shuttle service will be provided to the ceremony from all main campus parking lots and from the valley campus. Shuttles will begin at 8:30 a.m. 
  • A drop-off area at the ceremony location will be available for people with mobility impairments.


Ceremony

  • Guests will be seated from 8 a.m. to 9:55 a.m.
  • Seating for guests needing accessible accommodations will be available. Please see an Usher for assistance if you need any accommodations.
  • Tickets are not required for the outdoor ceremony.
  • The ceremony will last approximately two+ hours. There will be no admittance during the processional and until after the National Anthem is completed.
  • Each graduate will receive a complimentary photo with their diploma courtesy of the Alumni Association. Additional photographs may be ordered by contacting Commencement Photos.
  • Guests are asked to refrain from leaving their seats during the ceremony to take photographs. The college will post candid photographs of the commencement ceremony online.
  • After the ceremony concludes, we respectfully ask that guests remain seated until the exiting stage party has left the stage/gym.
  • Please do not block fire lanes or aisles at any time.
  • Please follow instructions from Ushers.
  • There will be a small reception at the end of the event that will allow guests ample opportunity to take photos.

Rain Contingency Plan

  • The decision to hold an indoor ceremony in case of rain or inclement weather will be determined by Wednesday before the ceremony and posted on this website. If the ceremony is moved indoors, it will be held in the Clark Field House.
  • Each graduate will be issued three tickets for the indoor ceremony. Admittance into the Clark Field House will require the tickets to enter the building, and is on a first come, first served basis. Only the first 1,500 guests will be seated.
  • Additional seating will be available both in the Okun Theatre and in the Farrell Commons, where the ceremony will be live-streamed on large screens. Seating in these locations is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Seating for guests needing accessible accommodations begins at 8 a.m.

  • ASL interpreters will be provided by Empire Interpreting.
