​The MOSAIC Multicultural Center provides personal and professional development for members of the campus community through workshops designed to foster self-awareness, knowledge, and skill development in the context of diversity and social justice. Our workshops can be modified to meet your specific goals and learning outcomes. Below are topics we cover in our workshops.

SafeZone Program

Purpose

The purpose of SUNY Delhi’s SafeZone program is to:

  • affirm the experiences of the LGBTQ+ community at SUNY Delhi;
  • foster an equitable and socially just community for members of the LGBTQ+ community;
  • provide personal and professional development for members of the campus community; and
  • raise awareness about the oppression and marginalization that the LGBTQ+ community may experience.  

Facilitators

Facilitators have undergone extensive training by the Out Alliance of Rochester, NY in order to facilitate the workshops on our campus.

The Workshop

The SafeZone curriculum explores the following, and much more:

  • defining a Safe Zone;
  • LGBTQ+ ally development through an intersectional framework;
  • LGBTQ+ vocabulary;
  • applying theory to practice regarding identity development;
  • unpacking components of gender, sex, and sexuality; and
  • inclusive language and communication exploration.

 

Our workshops are a minimum of 2 hours; however, we do offer 3 and 4 hour workshops.
