Health Insurance and Student Health Fee

Don’t confuse health insurance with the student health fee. Health insurance is not needed to be seen at our campus clinic. Students pay a mandatory health fee that covers visits to our campus clinic. However, health insurance is required to help cover costs occurring from accidents, injuries, emergency room visits, lab tests, etc. that are not covered by the health fee. The college is not liable for expenses incurred as a result of accidents or injuries related to college programs or on college property.

Insurance Options

Students are often covered under a private insurance policy of their own or their parents. If you do not have coverage you may purchase a policy through the college. (The current carrier is CDPHP.) The charge for the college insurance appears on all full-time students' bills.

Part-time students may enroll voluntarily. Dependent enrollment is also available.

Online Waiver

If you have insurance coverage that is equal to or better than the college policy and choose not to purchase this additional insurance, you must complete an online waiver found here.

The waiver must be completed annually, within the first 30 days of the start of the fall semester.  Spring admits will complete a waiver during their first term, and subsequent fall semesters.

Private Insurance Pre-Authorization

If you have an HMO or private health insurance that requires pre-authorization before seeing a physician, you are responsible for obtaining the authorization that is required.

Be certain to check whether your private insurance provides adequate coverage in Delhi and the Delaware County area.  There may be geographic restrictions to your insurance plan.  If your coverage is inadequate or limited, you might want to purchase the insurance policy available through the college.
