Woodland Cemetery: Spring Cleanups April 22 (Earth Day). April 29 and May 6. Rakes and gloves provided.  Sign up at the Center.  Meet at the entrance on Meredith Street and Orchard.  Two shifts each day:  9 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 4 pm.

Earth Day Tree Planting: April 22 at the SUNY Delhi Outdoor Education Center from 12 noon- 2 pm.  We are planting trees to help with stream management, to help with flooding and droughts.  Join us!  Park in the lot right on the Andes Road.

Campus Beautification: Help make campus spruced up after the long winter on Friday, April 28.  Drop by the Agora in the morning to get your assignment to rake, plant or pick up.  You can make a difference!

People's Climate Rally: April 29 on the Courthouse Square for those who can't get to Washington, D.C. for the March.  Come learn from faculty, staff, students and local businesses about how climate change will affect you!

Delhi Beautification:  April 29 at 10 am and April 30 at 1 pm.  Help is needed replenishing the soil in our planter barrels, adding fertilizer and giving them a good soak, and on the next day planting pansies in the barrels (and some in the parks).

All work will be done where the barrels are stored, behind the Village Dept. of Public Works (Street Dept.).  Follow the dead end road between the Pizza Hut and the SFCU.

Please let us know by calling 607-746-2723 or coming by to sign up at the OCCE.  This will allow for last minute communications should poor weather or other needs or issues arise.

Accepted Student Days:  Students needed to host visiting students and their families make their way around campus. May dates are the 1st, and the 13th all day. In between your classes you can get those last minute service hours for your co-curricular transcript.

Relay For Life:  Team up!  Now is the time to organize, start fundraising and WIN! Relay in Delhi is a Town-Gown affair held the last Saturday in April.  We are proudly the only town/gown Relay in New York State!  Held during the day, there is a lot of fun, remembering, celebrating and bonding to be had.  It's not too early or too late to start your team or to join the Individual Relayers. Questions?  Call 607-746-4781 or stop by the OCCE.

Robinson Terrace: Come to the OCCE to learn how you can become a friend to elderly residents who are lonely.  Transportation can be provided.

Regalia: Student groups are wanted to sign up for one day a week this semester to help staff our gently-used clothing store here on campus, with all proceeds going to student scholarships.  Come to the OCCE to sign up for your group to commit to one day, three hours a week all semester.
Mentoring/Bronco Buddies: There are two mentoring programs here in Delhi: Big Buddies and Catholic Charities.  More can be found online and in the OCCE office.  There is another, more group-oriented program as well.  Our own SUNY Delhi Bronco Buddies engage with local South Kortright Elementary School students in an ongoing weekly commitment that would be semester or year long with their CROP Program.  Contact Elizabeth in the OCCE office if you are interested in this meaningful opportunity.  The sooner you get in touch with us, the more likely it will be for us to get you on the bus! This is a great program!  Leave campus at 2:30, return about 5:30, Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Local Food Pantry in Delhi at the United Ministry Church behind the bank on Church Street.  Drop off donations between 1 and 3 pm on Mondays and Thursdays in the basement, Fellowship Hall.  Volunteers needed to staff the pantry.  Contact Deb at 607-746-1665 or Regina at  607-746-1670 for more information.

Head Start:  Help Delaware Opportunities raise money to purchase backpacks and school supplies for the preschoolers who are going into kindergarten next year. Whatever we raise will be matched by the O'Connor Foundation! This is open to individuals and organizations alike. You can do any type of fundraiser, just bring the money to the OCCE and make sure it is put in the exchange account.  Last year we helped them get a very large matching grant.  Can we do it again?  Yes we can!

The Arc of Delaware County: This nationally renowned organization participates on and off campus with service-learning and other co-curricular events like holiday parties and Study Buddies.  We also have a new program making art with recycled materials called Creative Abundance.  Let us know if you are interested.  You could be a ground-breaker! Contact the OCCE for more information.

And many, many more! Please contact Elizabeth Sova, the O'Connor Center Director at 607-746-4784, or Abby Brannen-Wilson at 607-746-4781, if you have any suggestions or ideas.

 * Thanks for a terrific year 2015-16: Over 20,000 hours of community service were performed by our students!    You can make a difference!
