SUNY Delhi ranks among the Top 20 most affordable colleges in the Northeast, according to a survey by Student Loan Hero, a company that provides free resources and tools relating to college costs and student finances. View the full ranking online.
Student Loan Hero surveyed the most recent tuition and fees at 310 public and private colleges in the Northeast to identify those with the lowest tuition and the least amount of debt per student at graduation. At $8,120, SUNY Delhi’s tuition and fees in 2017 were well below the $9,960 national average college cost for in-state students at four-year public schools. The average student debt at Delhi was $28,367 compared to the $39,400 national average.
The Northeast is the most expensive region in the United States to attend college and earn an undergraduate degree, with college costs averaging 49% higher than elsewhere in the nation in 2017, according to an annual report by the student loan lender Sallie Mae. The study by Student Loan Hero finds that choosing a public or local college is one of the best ways to keep educational costs and student debt low.
“At SUNY Delhi, we are proud to provide a high-quality education at an accessible cost, helping to set our students up for success at graduation,” said SUNY Delhi President Michael Laliberte. “Our academic programs offer career-focused education with hands-on learning and individual attention from instructors which many larger and more expensive institutions aren’t able to provide.
