The Institution:
SUNY Delhi has, throughout its 110-year history, been known for its commitment to experiential education, career readiness, and promoting the engaged citizenship of its students. The College currently provides more than 40 associates and 22 bachelors degree programs, and three online master’s programs. Delhi’s RN-to-BSN online program ranks #4 Best Online RN-to-BSN Program in New York by allnurses.com. Delhi’s new online master’s degree in criminal justice is the first of its kind within SUNY. A distinctive program, Veterinary Science Technology, is the first program of its kind in the nation and includes a study abroad component. Delhi’s 625-acre campus forms a “town within a town,” with more than 44 buildings, six residence halls, a 120-bed apartment complex, and various facilities and amenities that include an 18-hole golf course with clubhouse and café, sports venues, and extensive laboratory facilities in support of the various technical curricula offered by the institution. The village of Delhi is a close-knit community where roughly 3,000 people proudly reside. The bucolic county captures classic American living in the natural background of the enchanting Catskill Mountains, known for many outdoor recreational opportunities, the dramatic landscape, and various historic sites. Delhi is located less than two hours from the New York State capital of Albany, and three and a half hours from New York City, yet offers relaxed living in a family-friendly, rural setting.

The Position:
Reporting to the SUNY Chancellor and working collaboratively with the campus college council, peer SUNY campuses, and the local community, the president is the chief administrative officer of the college and has overall legal responsibility for the operation of the college. Among the duties assigned, the President is responsible for the preparation and recommendation of the annual College budget request and the allocation of resources. The President makes policy decisions with respect to the mission, plans, and development of the campus. The President promotes the development and effectiveness of the College through the supervision of the academic and nonacademic staff and has legal responsibility for the appointment, reappointment, promotion, and separation from services of all staff members. As a highly visible and engaged leader, the president will actively engage with alumni, friends, foundations, and community partnerships to grow SUNY Delhi’s annual fund. The president will engage all stakeholders with a focus on increasing awareness of the college’s profile, while providing broad and transformational educational opportunities to students.

As Chief Administrative Officer, the President assigns duties, powers, and responsibilities to other administrative and academic officers and/or to special committees. The president will work with a team of dedicated faculty and staff and oversee a team of vice presidents who lead the divisions of Academic Programs and Services, Finance and Administration, Student Life, Marketing and Enrollment Management and Communications, College Advancement, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and the Chief of Staff.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to the College’s overall mission, support and promote diversity, and reinforce a student-focused environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to providing a high-quality, affordable education to students from all social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. The successful candidate will possess a record in building institutional diversity and equally supporting SUNY’s initiative to diversity the faculty, staff, and students.

They must have strategic planning and implementation skills and be familiar with accreditation processes. The new president will be entrepreneurial and provide effective leadership by exhibiting innovative and creative approaches relevant to the College’s mission. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess a history of sound financial management, an interest in engaging alumni and donors, and the ability to create a feeling of collegiality and shared inquiry. A personal desire to be engaged with and be visible to students is critical. This person will provide pivotal leadership in an environment committed to shared governance and transparency. The consistent ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with campus constituents, SUNY System administration, other SUNY institutions, and community leaders is vital. The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of collegial SUNY presidents across the SUNY System that are fully engaged in dialogue and planning at a national level during a critical time that requires the State University of New York’s unparalleled commitment to student success, academic excellence, leadership, research, and economic and community engagement. A demonstrated record of professional experience is required to lead this public institution of higher learning. Qualified candidates will possess an earned doctorate or terminal degree and executive-level leadership experience.
