PGM Students Receive Merrill Scholarships
Program students Sean Murphy, Lia Rinaldi, and Ryan Gallagher each received a Merrill Scholarship for the 2015 campaign. The Merrill Family Foundation Scholarship awards many outstanding scholarships to students from various majors on campus.
PGM Graduate Completes PGA Requirements While Attending SUNY Delhi
PGM student Chris Dowling, Red Hook, NY, recently graduated from SUNY Delhi and completed the PGA of America's self-study program. The PGA of America's education program involves passing a Playing Ability Test, attending three checkpoints and then passing the related examinations, and accumulating monthly work experience credits. Chris finished all of these requirements, other than a few months of the work experience credits, while attending SUNY Delhi. He completed the requirements for PGA membership faster than any student or graduate in program history. Chris is now employed as a golf professional at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor, NY.
First Tee Big Apple Girl's Golf Camp at the College Golf Course
Program PGA Professionals Tom Philion and Jim Lees conducted a three day golf camp for the Metropolitan New York First Tee Big Apple Girls' group at the College Golf Course at Delhi.
PGM Program Director Tom Philion Earns 2015 Northeast New York PGA olf Professional
of the Year

Senior Derek Bruno Passes the PGA Playing Ability Test (PAT)
PGM senior Derek Bruno passed the PGA Playing Ability Test (PAT) held May 2 at the College Golf Course at Delhi. Bruno fired a 36 hole total 148 (76-72) to pass the test. The target score to pass was 154.
PGM Students Visit En-Joie Golf Club for their Spring Trip
PGM students recently visited En-Joie Golf Club located in Endicott, NY (Binghamton area) for their spring trip. En-Joie hosts the Senior PGA Tour Dick's Sporting Goods Open each year and is the former site of the PGA Tour's BC Open.
PGM Students Place Second in SUNY Regional Business Plan Competition
PGM juniors Alex Lilley (left) and Chris Dowling (right) placed second at the New York State Business Plan Competition Regional Qualifier held recently at SUNYIT-Ithaca. The students devised a golf club fitting app that could be used at golf retail outlets. Their showing qualified them for the State Competition in Albany. It was in Professor Pauline Stamp's (pictured center) Entrepreneurship class where the idea was originally formulated
PGM Program Holds Inaugural Basketball Tournament at Clark Field House
The junior class (pictured in white) and the sophomore class (pictured in yellow) played in the championship in the first ever PGM program roundball/basketball tournament held at the Clark Field House. The juniors captured the championship. Also participating was a freshman, senior, and alumni team. The event was very popular and should happen annually going forward.
PGM Club Team Captures NCCGA 2013 Northeast Fall Regional at Ravenwood
The PGM Club team captured the National Collegiate Club Golf Association's 2013 Fall Regional held at Ravenwood Golf Club, October 26 and 27. The team fired a best two day total of 826 (419-407) in very adverse conditions. The format was best 5 of 8 scores. The team was led by Daniel Sciarrino (80-81=161) T2nd, Matt Grochala (81-81=162) 4th, and Mitch Couch (84-84=168) 8th. Other team participants from the PGM program were John Kading, Scott Delair, Jim Hays, Aaron Scofield, and Sean Murphy. Other university teams competing were Syracuse U., Cornell U., Binghamton U., U. of Buffalo, and SUNY Cortland.

PGM Students Pass the PGA Playing Ability Test (PAT)
PGM students James Darcy (left), Matt Grochala (right) and Dylan Thompson (missing from photo) passed the PGA Playing Ability Test at the College Golf Course at Delhi on Friday October 4, 2013. Darcy tied for medalist with a 36 hole total 148 (73-75), Thompson scored 151 (76-75) and Grochala 153 (76-77). The target score to pass was 154.
Merrill Family Foundation Scholarship Winners
In 2013 PGM students received approximately $20, 000 from the Merrill Family Foundation Scholarship. Those receiving scholarships pictured from left to right: Alex Lilley, Zack Secoolish, Chris Dowling, Daniel Sciarrino, Greg Stavrou, and Victor Dupuis. Missing from the photo is Jaime Armstrong. The program is very appreciative of the Merrill's generosity.
PGM Senior David Gennett Passes PGA PAT in the Illinois PGA Section
PGM senior David Gennett recently passed his PGA Playing Ability Test (PAT) at Deer
Park Golf Club just north of Chicago in Riverwoods, IL. David had rounds of 76+74=150.
David is currently doing his final internship at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove,
IL. He will graduate in December.
David Miller Receives the Community Service Leader of Merit Award
PGM student David Miller received the Community Service Leader of Merit Award upon graduation in May. David (pictured middle) was presented the award by SUNY Delhi President Dr. Candace Vancko (pictured right) and the Coordinator of the O'Connor Center for Community Engagement Elizabeth Sova (pictured left).
PGM Club Golf Team joins the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA)
The PGM Club Golf Team recently joined the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA). The team will play in two northeast regional events each semester against other regional collegiate club teams - Syracuse, SUNY Brockport, University of Buffalo, Cornell University, SUNY Cortland, and Binghamton University with the hopes of qualifying for the national event. This is another great competitive playing opportunity for PGM students.
Graduate Dallas Pylinski gains PGA membership
PGM graduate Dallas Pylinski, an assistant golf professional at Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence, NY, recently completed all the requirements to become a member of the PGA of America.
Graduate Jim Ironside Named the Central New York PGA Assistant Golf Professional of
the Year
PGM graduate Jim Ironside was recently named the Assistant Golf Professional of the Year by the Central New York PGA. Jim is the 1st assistant golf professional at Kanon Valley Country Club located in Oneida, NY.
Graduate Matt Jaynes Named the Central New York PGA Assistant Player of the Year
PGM graduate Matt Jaynes was recently named the Assistant Player of the Year by the Central New York PGA. Matt is the 1st assistant golf professional at Corning Country Club located in Corning, NY.
Graduates Van Auken and Batson become members of the PGA of America.
PGM graduates Bob Van Auken, an assistant golf professional at Schuyler Meadows Club in Loudonville, NY, and Keith Batson, an assistant golf professional at Elm Tree Golf Course in Cortland, NY, recently completed all the requirements to become members of the PGA of America.
Philion named to the PGA of America National Apprentice Committee.
PGM Program Director Tom Philion was recently asked to serve on the PGA of America National Apprentice Committee.
PGM Program Teaches Golf at Eight Area School Districts
The PGM program recently partnered with the Stamford Golf Course Association to teach golf in the local schools. The Stamford Golf Course Association provides all the equipment for the in-school instruction, while the PGM program provides the instructors.
Last fall and this spring two students and PGM staff members Jim Lees and Tom Philion
visited South Kortright , Margaretville, Gilboa, Stamford, Jefferson, Charlotte Valley,
Roxbury, and Hunter-Tannersville School Districts to give lessons in the physical

PGM Club Golf Team Has a Flawless Fall
The PGM club golf team was undefeated in three matches this fall and won the season ending Central New York Club Golf League Tournament held at Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, NY. Members of the winning team (pictured above left to right) were Dave Gennett, Tyler Ramie, Dan Sciarrino, Chris Dowling, Matt Grochala, and Andy Bulizak.
PGM Students Pass the PAT!
Junior Dan Sciarrino (left) and senior James Lichtenberger (right) passed the PGA Playing Ability Test (PAT) held at the College Golf Course at Delhi on Friday October 5. Lichtenberger was medalist with scores of 74-71=145, while Sciarrino had scores of 78-75=153. The PAT is the first step in the process to become a PGA member. Congratulations!
Dave Gennett Wins the 2012 PGM Player of the Year
