On-Campus Residency Requirement

Per SUNY Board of Trustees policy, all full-time undergraduate students must live in SUNY Delhi residence facilities. Students who meet the following exceptions are not required to reside in SUNY Delhi residence facilities:

  • married students;
  • students living with parents or guardians and commuting (within a 50-mile radius);
  • students 21 years of age or older, prior to October 1 of the academic year in which they enroll (prior to March 1 for those enrolling for the spring semester);
  • Other requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

SUNY Delhi may also allow students who have resided on campus for two years to move off campus. This is not guaranteed and the request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Students must complete a Request to Live Off Campus form and receive approval even if they meet one of these requirements.  It is strongly encouraged that students do not enter into a lease until they have received approval to be released from the residency requirement.

Local Area Housing

To assist current students with their housing search, SUNY Delhi is using Apartments.com. This service contains apartments and rooms for rent. The features are available to the SUNY Delhi community.

Property owners, rental agents and non-members of the university community are invited to post their rental vacancies on apartments.com. Please read and follow the Posting Guidelines, as they are strictly enforced. All postings must comply with the Fair Housing Act and local, state and federal rules and regulations.

SUNY Delhi employees do not approve, inspect, or supervise the premises described, nor does the university become party to housemate/subletter/landlord/tenant matters.

Renters Insurance

While SUNY Delhi does not recommend any one insurance company to deal with, we highly recommend that students living off campus obtain renters insurance. Renters insurance will cover a loss of property in case of fire, flood, theft, etc. Contact any insurance company to obtain this valuable resource.
