CARP 220 Residential Remodeling Laboratory Tool List
CARP 220 is taken by the majority of Carpentry majors in the second year (third semester). If you have been through the first year of Carpentry, you may already have some of these tools.
The faculty expect that you will have all of the REQUIRED tools and safety equipment listed on this page at the time they are needed in the Laboratory or on the job site. You may be dismissed from class for failure to have the required tools. It is your responsibility to have and maintain your own tools.
There are two area vendors that sell discounted tools to students, Fastenal and Tinkertown Supply. Tools purchased from either vendor can be delivered to the student's home during the summer, or be delivered to the HVAC/Refrigeration Laboratory at SUNY Delhi during the first week of fall classes. - Hard Hat
- Safety Glasses (2 pair)
- Work Boots
- Gloves, such as Ironclad or Bucketboss which you can wear while doing Carpentry tasks.
- Disposable Dust Masks

- Tool Belt with pouches and hammer holster
- Hammers, 16 oz Finish, 20-22 oz Framing
- Utility Knife w/extra blades
- Flat Bar and Cats Paw Nail Puller
- Chalk Line w/extra Chalk
- Tape Measure-25' minimum
- Tin Snips, Large (not Aviator Snips) for cutting Flashing and Siding
- Speed Square
- Block Plane
- 1/2" & 3/4" wood chisels
- Nail Set
- Coping Saw and Blades
- 24" Level

Required Masonry Tools
- 100' braided mason line
- Brick Trowel, narrow London 10-11" (American Made)
- Brickhammer (wood or tubular handles not recommended)
- 31/2" or 4" Brick Set (any brand)
- 4' Level 2' level (wood)
- 1/2" x 5/8" Convex Joiner
- Masonry Brush
- Pair of Line Blocks
- Mason's tool bag (optional)
Suggested Masonry Tools
- Pullover rubber boots for walking in concrete
- Magnesium Float 16" x 3- 1/8"
- Work Gloves
- Hammer Holster
- Line Pins and Line Twigs
- Mason's Bag for carrying Masonry tools (you may want to keep them separate from your carpentry tools)
