Architectural Design Studio Fees:
Due to our location in upstate New York, SUNY Delhi provides essential materials for design studios through the use of lab fees. For freshman students, we supply a complete studio design kit, while students in sophomore through fifth-year studios receive materials such as modeling supplies, drawing paper, X-Acto blades, bookbinding supplies, and other necessary items. These provisions ensure that students have the tools needed for their coursework. However, each student is responsible for purchasing additional items like some pens or pencils, personal architectural supplies and some modeling supplies.
By utilizing lab fees to purchase supplies, we have found that we can provide students with the necessary materials more quickly and at a lower cost than through traditional vendors. By buying in bulk, we typically achieve savings of 20 to 40 percent compared to the price of individual items. This approach not only ensures that students receive their supplies promptly but also makes the overall cost of materials more affordable.
The fee breakdown is as follows with the items purchased:
ARCH 125: $415
This first fee covers the freshman design kit. This kit includes the core tools needed to complete your assignments through ARCH 125 to ARCH 210. This includes pens, pencils, measuring tools, tirangles, and other essential tools.
ARCH 135, ARCH 210, & ARCH 240: $100
This fee covers some drafting paper, modeling supplies, and other drafting tools as needed for studio.
ARCH 330, ARCH 430, ARCH 470, ARCH 481, and ARCH 490: $175
This fee covers drafting paper, modeling supplies, printing supplies, and other drafting tools as needed for studio.
