Quarantine/Isolation Guidelines and Restrictions

Quarantine/Isolation Guidelines and Restrictions

The health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff is of utmost importance to SUNY Delhi and requires the participation of the entire campus community. To minimize exposure to COVID-19, on-campus quarantine/isolation (Q/I) spaces will be utilized to isolate residential students who have been directly exposed to or who have contracted the virus, or who are awaiting test results.

General Information:

Residential students who are required to quarantine/isolate due to exposure to COVID-19 will be placed in Murphy Hall, which has been designated for this purpose. Off-campus students who are required to Q/I will be advised to do so at their place of residence, or in a space made available through the county health department.

Residential students required to move into Q/I spaces will receive an initial email in their SUNY Delhi email account from the Q/I Coordinator with detailed information regarding the Q/I requirement.

The Q/I Coordinator (for on-campus students) or the Department of Public Health (for off-campus students) will contact students in Q/I daily by phone to monitor their condition and ensure they have access to basic needs and psychological support while isolated.

Food delivery will be provided through campus dining services (CADI) for on-campus students in Q/I. CADI will provide food options and the link to the meal order form upon check-in to the Q/I space.

Students should bring essential items for at least a 14-day stay in the Q/I space. Essential items include toiletries, bedding/linens, medication, laptop, cell phone, chargers and cables, academic supplies needed to attend remote courses, clothing, and any other items the student may need.

Laundry facilities will be available in Murphy Hall. A schedule will be developed for individual use during the Q/I period.

Health Services will notify faculty regarding a student’s absence from in-person classes. In accordance with privacy laws, no reason will be disclosed. The student should contact their faculty with any questions about their course requirements and expectations during their absence.

Students Assigned to Q/I Agree to the Following:

  • Remain in the assigned Q/I room and/or building floor and not leave this area during the assigned time.
  • Not allow any guests/visitors into the Q/I space at any time. Only authorized SUNY Delhi staff will be allowed to enter Murphy Hall and Q/I space.
  • Not attend in-person classes or any campus activities.
  • Adhere to all policies in the Student Code of Conduct which includes all appendices, addendums, and/or updates, and follow all COVID-19 policies and executive orders issued by New York State and the local public health department. Effective October 1, 2020, SUNY Delhi will enforce the SUNY-wide policy for violations for COVID-19 safety protocols. These uniformed sanctions include suspension and expulsion from SUNY Delhi. Disciplinary charges may be bought against a student for violating the above expectations. These include, but are not limited to, Personal Misconduct not on College Property, Failure to Comply, Reckless Endangerment, Violation of Guest Policy, Violation of Identification Policy, and/or Trespassing.
