Article IV: Definition of Terms
- The term “college” refers to the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi.
- The term “student” includes all persons taking courses at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi, including online or off-site students, both full and part-time, pursuing undergraduate studies and those who attend other institutions who reside in college residence halls. Persons who are not officially enrolled for a particular term, but who have a continuing relationship with the college are considered to be students. This includes individuals who have been accepted as a student.
- The term “faculty” refers to any person hired by the college to conduct classroom activities.
- The term “college official” or “college staff” refers to any person hired by the college to perform assigned administrative or professional responsibilities.
- The term “college property” includes all land, buildings, facilities, and other property in the possession of or owned, used, or controlled by the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi, the College Foundation, or the College Association at Delhi, Incorporated, including adjacent streets and sidewalks.
- The term “recognized organization” refers to a group or organization or any number of persons who have applied for, complied with the formal requirements and been approved for college recognition.
- The term “financially dependent student” refers to all students age 24 or younger at SUNY Delhi who are claimed as a dependent on their parent(s) or guardian(s) Federal or State Income Tax.
- The term “accused student” refers to any student accused of violating the Student Code of Conduct.
- The term “complainant” refers to any individual who submits a statement alleging that a student violated the Student Code of Conduct.
- The term “force” is the use of physical violence and/or physically imposing on an individual to gain sexual access. Force also includes threats, intimidation and coercion that overcome resistance or produce consent.
- The term “unrecognized organization” refers to a group or organization or any number of persons who are acting on behalf of a group or organization who are not formally recognized by the college.
- The term “banned organization” refers to a group that has committed a severe violation or has a history of repeated violations of law and University regulations such that the group’s conduct is determined to have irreparable and adverse effects on the University and/or members of the University community.
- The term “transcript notation” refers to the institution placing a notation on the transcript of students found responsible after a conduct process that they were “suspended after a finding of responsibility for a code of conduct violation” or “expelled after a finding of responsibility for a code of conduct violation.”
