Withdrawal from College

What is the difference between a drop and a withdrawal?

If a student wishes to drop a course (or courses), this means that he/she will drop one or more classes from a specific semester or term while still staying enrolled in at least one course. Learn more information about how to drop a class.

A withdrawal occurs when a student removes all courses and is no longer enrolled in any classes for the semester.

If you are still unsure about the differences between a drop and withdrawal, please contact the Registrar’s Office.

How to withdraw if you are enrolled in an On-campus program

  • Students withdrawing from college who are attending classes on the Delhi campus are required to visit Health & Counseling Services, located in Foreman Hall, to obtain an Application for Withdrawal form.

How to withdraw if you are enrolled in an Online/Offsite program or are a Non-matriculated student

  • Online/Offsite/Non-Matriculated students should reach out to their academic advisor or the Office of Academic Advising to begin the withdrawal process.

Meal Plan Refunds

Meal Plan refunds are in compliance with New York State Sales Tax Law, which stipulates that refunds be based solely on the passage of time as opposed to the consumption of food. No refunds for meal plans will be given after the 10th week of classes. Refunds are coordinated between Student Financial Services and CADI, and will be applied to any balance owed to SUNY Delhi or the College Association at Delhi, Inc. (CADI). Student ID cards must be returned to CADI upon withdrawal. If the ID card is not returned, the $10 cost of the ID card will be deducted from any refund.

Refund Policy for Academic and Disciplinary Dismissals

Any student who is dismissed for academic or disciplinary reasons prior to the end of an academic term shall be liable for all tuition, fees, and room and board charges for that term.

Removal from College Residence Hall Policy

Any student who is removed from a college residence hall for disciplinary reasons will be liable for all room charges for that semester.

**Special Note to Students with Federal Student Loans and Grants

Federal regulations state that a student is eligible to receive Title IV aid based upon the amount of time in school. If you withdraw prior to the end of the semester, you may not be allowed to keep all of your federal student aid, which may create a liability due to the school. Any refunds of financial aid you received may need to be returned to the school. Please contact the Student Financial Services Office if you are considering withdrawing to see how this may affect you.
